...And that's how the day ended,
with no more broken hearts needing to be mended;
no castles on fire, high in the sky,
no tears of regret from one last goodbye.
No voices cracked in pain unspoken,
no fairytale daydreams were broken;
eternal night faded into day,
and I promised myself it would all be okay.
Because life goes on even if love won't;
sometimes I want to let go, other times I don't.
And memories will be buried deep inside,
to remind me love still hasn't yet died.
It hurts more than I care to show,
but it helps me eventually grow-
because life goes on even if love won't.
No bleary eyes confusion upon waking,
this is reality-there is no mistaking;
and my heart doesn't feel so torn apart,
I know it's not over, but it's a start
to living out loud, not hidden away-
there's a smile on my face to start a new day;
and eventually it won't hurt so bad,
and I can do what I want with the times that we had.
Because life goes on even if love won't;
sometimes I cry out, but eventually I don't.
And I'll find that my tears have dried,
and that love is most definitely alive.
I can't forget what I learn to know,
and experience helps me to grow-
because life goes on even if love won't.
I remember the moments that caused so much pain,
I relived them over and over again;
and I fought with myself and I grieved,
but I woke up and found the courage to breathe...
again.
Because life goes on even if love won't;
though I lied to myself, now I don't.
Because you can't let love completely die-
and forever isn't always friends with goodbye.
I'll get up and watch all the world grow,
and eventually I'll learn what I need to know-
that life goes on even if love won't.
Life goes on, so enjoy the show.
