The Seven Plagues of Egypt.

As Moses approached the pharoah,
The gods demanded the slaves be set free
Upon this order the pharoah replied
'Over my dead body'
Once the gods had heard this call
They decided Egypt shall be no more;

The first plague of seven to set the shore
Was that of the rivers turning to blood; forever more
An act of the gods some may say
While others believe it was fish guts and hay
Egypt was filled with some awful stench
But yet still the pharoah refused the bench

The second of seven to set the shore
Was that of locusts creating a deathly roar
The pharoah was warned of the plague to come
Still he stood firm and would not budge
As the wind picked up a dreadful noise could be heard
The swarm covered the sky, leaving Egypt in shadow, no crop was left unturned

The third of seven to set the shore
Was that of wild animals, the devastation they bought and more
The wild animals ruined most
People and livestock found the cost
When asking if this swarm could be removed
He had an alterior motive to prove.

The fourth of seven to set the shore
Was that of the Death of the First born to knock at the door
Even the pharoah previously untouched
Lost his first born from this hatred of must
This was the hardest and cruelest blow for Egypt
It meant the death of all those held dearest

The fifth of seven to set the shore
Was the Hail intermixed with fire to devastate even more
It was a supernatural storm of powerful force
Never had such a storm shown no remorse
This time the pharoah knew he had wronged
And so the storm picked up and was so strong

The sixth of seven to set the shore
Was the land in total darkness forever more
This darkness lasted for the third day
Never had Egypt been in this much dismay
An attack on pharoahs god Ra
Made this plagur one for the mar

The seventh of seven to set the shore
Was that of boils and swords hitting them all
Each man, woman and child in Egypt became a slave
Was never a family ever so brave
They rose against the pharoah with such force
He had no choice but distinguish ever last one

Upon the completion of the plagues
The sun rose over Egypt and it was a glorious day
They rose to the challenge
They repaired what was damaged
Never again would such heart ache
Reach the shore and never again would pharoah make such a mistake.

  • i like this poem.... its good. and difrent from what im use to. Although you should look at your words.

  • Hon, it was a nice piece and will probably win if placed in the right contest, but I'm sorry, I'm not much for religion or the bible, not that I don't believe in a Creator, mind you, just not in stuff that was written down in a book by men for men.. But it is a nice piece.. Thanks for entering,,

This is a very informative write. I learned alot from this and it kept my attention all the way to the end. A great piece of history written in verse. I like how you began each stanza with a repeating line to introduce each new plague. There are many great lines in this...alby
