The Severing

Breathing with quickness and mind alert,
Creeping into mind comes horror.
Infernal passion of woe, the ire of contempt.
"Approach," the mind disgustingly beckons.

Let the bond be no more!

Whispering hatefully my spirit conveys anger.
Light seems to shiver in its presence.
My corruption, our nightmare.
"Say it," the brain urges me.

Pierce the heart of your lover!

Damnation could fall upon us.
Her resolve would not quiver or quake.
Those poison words, her aching weakness.
"Now!" I am pushed beyond my fear.

Ruination; a requisite for my happiness!

At first it was a crackle of voice spoke faintly.
It became a weapon of overarching power.
Her glass heart, our broken shards.
"It is over!" My soul suddenly withers.

This is a mere sacrifice!

To my misnomer mistress my heart belongs.
I rue every painful second of my choice.
A lifetime of love, mere seconds of lust.
"Well done..." As the angel disappears.

Let the transgression fade!

It was a shame the affection was not returned.
The year ahead obliterated my desire.
Myself to blame, nobody to have.
"Kill yourself." The devil speaks.

Bond to love slit... force to life severed.

Author notes

A poem detailing the situation I could have incurred myself, fancied up with structure and better wording.

Don't become a slave to your inner demon, you must sever that bond most importantly: This is the underlying text to the poem.
