Hard pieces of stale bread
Shine like stars in someone’s eyes
Someone, somewhere savors
The melting taste of fallen
Stars under a starry sky
Morsels fill the empty
Plate of soul with symphony
Of gratefulness
Some stomach dances like
A full moon every night

This seems to say those who have little, appreciate more what little they have. I’m sure some of them do. Really interesting.

What a lovely and meaningful metaphor you've applied here, Sophie. So glad I've dediced to return the many favours you've blessed my poetry with. A wonderful thought-provoking piece that allows hungry eyes to shine. ~ Nicolette

Great imagery here, and a poem I had to read through a couple of times to really understand. Nice write.

the first thing i did upon reading this is find out what country you were from and I should have guessed India by the tone and style... I originally tripped over some of he imagery but after a couple of reads it all became clear... hunger can make even stale bread as beautiful as stars, real or metaphorical
great entry here, thanks

I am glad you found this worth a couple of reads. True poetry is always like that. Magnetic. It comes straight from the heart. It has nothing to do with country.
Thanks for your sincere appraisal of my work
Take care,
Sophie
