Let's Play Pretend...

Tell me you don’t feel us slowly growing apart
And I will stay and postpone the breaking of my heart
Tell me we’re okay, tell me that we’re fine
And I will hold on tighter and always call you mine
Tell me there’s no one else you’ve got on your mind
And I’ll forget the past; I’ll never look behind
Maybe we can fake it, and things will be okay
Tell me what I wanna hear, and I’ll say what you want me to say
How bout we make everyone jealous, they’ll wish they could be like us
They’ll never see the imperfections, our fights, and lack of trust
Baby, tell me you’re not afraid that we won’t stay together
Because I remember once upon a time you promised me forever
Tell me that I’m wrong, that I don’t know what I feel
Because the wall between us is starting to look real
Tell me, dammit, tell me that you’ll never say “good—bye”
Hold me late into the night, and tell me one more lie.

Does it flow? Or does the rhyme seem forced?

I plan to revise this poem: please leave constructive criticism!
