Within Dark Walls(gold)

Trapped with in these darkened walls
surrounded on all sides,
the devils' taunt me from within
as war and peace collide.

I'm as fragile as a pane of glass
shattered into shards,
there seems to be no light ahead
my fingers burnt and scarred.

Once upon a time ago
there was a gleam of light,
deceit became a blackened space
and hope was lost in flight.

Tears have stopped their ridicule
as emptiness invades,
but slowly memories tiptoe back
the past rains on our parade.

I wander in this painful place
with seemingly no escape,
no matter how I swerve and twist
I cannot change life's shape.

I sway upon life's windowsill
I'm inside looking out,
living with foul demons
forever, there's no doubt.

  • I enjoyed this thoroughly. Written very well. I usually am not a fan of this rhyme style but you have written it in such a way that I quiet enjoyed it. There's only one small error I found, which could just be me. This line seems to be missing a word; the past rains on parade.
Just a word like the or our. Thank you for the entry and good luck.

You poet, the master of many thoughts, touch on a subject that goes sadly un-noticed. The darkness within ones mind & how it can so cripple a heart. Excellent write.
