and realized that nothing
would ever be the same.
The familiar,
now a distant memory in the past
and the unknown
starred me straight in the face.
I was scared
but knew I could fight this,
nothing was going to get in my way.
I have been through worse
and have made it through,
why should this be any different.
Author notes
This poem was written for my dear cousin who slipped away in February of 2007, after a long, eight year, courageous battle with cancer. She never lost hope and always faced life with a "Thumbs Up" attitude. She left behind her young daughter and son but from their mother they learned to face everyday with courage, strenght and the belief that no matter what life throws at you, you can make it through.
What did you think?

A very inspiring piece that you have here. I liked how it held strength, and the hope over rides the doubt. Nice work.
