My Ship Of Dreams

The sun sets upon another day,
as I captain my ship of dreams.

My imagination taking me away;
into boundless depths it seems.

Soaring high is my inspiration;
lulled as I rock on waves this way.

Imagination; like wind in my sails;
my emotions an ocean of water.

Upon this ship of dreams nothing fails;
I am not led like a lamb to slaughter.

The mast of my hopes; towering strong,
the stern and the bow my future and past.

My ship of dreams carries me along,
with my own prowess to guide at last.

Within my ship I am my company alone;
I am in a world I where I can always escape.

This ship of dreams is all my own,
none can intrude and try to re-shape.

Sailing free in the depths of treasure yet to find,
my ship of dreams afloat upon my sea.

The rudder is my very own mind,
the water the very spirit of me.

Never with a land mass shall I collide,
for my ship of dreams will never land.

It is all a creation so deep inside;
never to feel the coarse grit of sand.

It is both a vessel that I can call home;
as well as a means of internal exploration.

On my ship of dreams I forever roam
The depths of inspirational imagination.

    This is so pretty! I like the dreamy way you wrote this with a lot of positive things too. It's something I can read over and over again, like a favorite fairy tale.

    A beautiful perspective of this lovely picture.

    The rudder is my very own mind,
    the water the very spirit of me.

    these are the 2 lines that stood out for me, a very personal declaration and it sets the theme so well.
    Great entry

    I sought to sail the seas alone the helm within my hands
    My Mom's favorite poem was the Ancient Mariner. I've read two of your poems now that speak of sailing the waters... of the spirit...to wonder ....wander and be free

    A Great Poem

    A really lovely poem, it was a wonderful dreamy smooth ship for the most part – but lost its balance in a couple of little places – if I were cleaver enough to write this I think I would shorten it a little to smooth out those troublesome bits and turn it into something really great. – Albert.

    The rudder is my very own mind,
    the water the very spirit of me.
    I like these two lines a lot... reminds me that we are in charge of our own lives whether it feels that way or not. Painted pretty word pctures too, adding it to my favorites

    Nicely done. The third set threw of the tempo a bit, but it was a pleasure to read. Imagination can take you everywhere, and especially to places that don't even exist beyond the boundaries of your mind.

    Thank you for entering this
