What it Seems Ripped at the Seams

A group of college kids wait for a bus
They are dressed nicely, most likely going downtown
They may be going out to dinner
It could be a friend’s birthday or just a Friday night with friends
They feel happy
They feel good
They feel comfortable
But this bliss, this unshakeable foundation of happiness
Has the potential to be shaken
And these positive feelings can disappear in an instant
These kids aren’t happy
They’re fucking blind
Their feelings are mere trickery of our own evil mentality
This reality is nothing of what we thought
The images are seen only through our positive perception
And yet, these kids continue to smile
They continue to laugh
They continue to feel happy
Maybe they are denying what they already know
Or they haven’t come across what they’re going to realize
They are blind, but they are happy
Maybe seeing isn’t all that it’s cracked up to be…
