She floated courageously into the darkness
where shadows drift and creep
she did not drown in tears of sorrow
nor did she slip into a dreamlike sleep.
Instead she sank into the waters
like a carcas drifting out to sea
on her face she wore a reflection
that remained a mystery.
She did not flail her arms with madness
nor did she open her mouth to speak
yet the currents took her swiftly
through a treacherous mountain creek
Her eyes held no expression
her cheeks were cold as ice
she knew her death was imminent
for the prophets told her twice
and though her limbs were weary
she stretched them out to glide
she thought this was her heaven
and so she took it all in stride
unwilling to fight the turmoil
she surrendered to the tide.

A depressing/dark poem about surrendering and letting nature take its course. A interesting perspective on the prompt. Thank you for entering.

you know i can't see the picture but your words brings an image to mind. they paint a story of woe and surrender. your words are very poignant and the flow is very smooth. it tells of heartbreak and you made the emotions very stark. you are a great writer and the best of you shows in this.my very best to you in the contest.
