After so many farewells and grateful greetings,
these empty eons of time;
month after grueling month
where fantasies raise ugly yet beautiful visions
and loss drains my memories, one strip of hide after another ~
Oh, God, your beautiful face. Why can’t I remember your beautiful face?
I cannot taste you, smell you on old clothes I have in the closet,
feel the smooth tanness of your skin against mine ~
I am terrified at these chinks of forgetting
that leave empty spaces where you used to be.

I can relate to this piece in my heart. You capture the absolute sadness at forgetting love. I enjoyed this so much. Best to you in the contest
