A man stands before a crowd,
His ignorance toward the races known,
And the hatred that spews from his mouth.
With hands in the air,
They follow him.
The butterflies are all gone,
So beauty as a child could not be witnessed,
By the eyes of those who would see,
See that the world is beautiful.
The world's beauty not seen,
The men who try and destroy it come,
From men of the fatherland,
To the men of the motherland.
Wars rip apart continents,
But could all be avoided,
If a man before a crowd of people,
Sat before a crowd of butterflies.

A crowd of butterfies - great image. Good anti-war poem. What really interests me is your title. The butterfly effect has a meaning in science, specifically in Chaos Theory. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butterfly_effect
That is what pulled me in only to be surprised by your usage. Very good!

I love your ending with the butterfly. I wonder why myself why we can't peace instead of war. War is getting really old.
