Melody (Hold Your Hand)

Do you hear,
familiar melodies –
on the breeze? With every little word,
hanging in anticipation of the answer.
They pray you stay – for the life that you will share –
hands holding on.

So fight.
They don’t want to lose you.
Little hands waiting to hold you –
reach out and take the hands,
smiles yet unshared,
which this little one wants to give their dad.
There is so much more left,
that you will miss –
don’t leave them here.

Standing at the alter,
she smiles, her eyes shining –
today you would take her hand –
this one thing she wishes for so greatly,
her apologies for blushing –
today is it.
The day she wants to live.
She waits to hold your hand.

They wait for you to grasp their hands –
look in their eyes and smile.
Breathe the answers – to here your voice –
added to this melody of life.
Life is waiting for you. Their hands are reaching toward you.
Wake up. This fight is not quite over.
People waiting for you – holding out their hands.

((For Liam. Praying for you.))

Author notes

I know that their is probably much that could be fixed or could be better... But I wanted to use what was mentioned in the contest as part of the poem. I wanted it to be somewhat personal. There are people who are going to hurt if you leave them. They are waiting and their are so many memories that are just unfinished. Don't ever be afraid, though... God is holding you in his arms. Keep fighting. There are so many people who don't want you to go. They want you there... Especially the baby who has yet to meet you and the woman you are to marry. They are waiting to smile and hold your hand.

I'll be praying...
