It is a stimulus bill that we clearly need to support.
Please ignore the small crowd from the opposition faction
Whose tough love attitude would erode our great effort.
Frankly my friends, this is the best stimulus package yet.
Among the first points that I would like to make
Concerns the addendum to eliminate my own debts.
You should know that this was not a deliberate mistake.
As you may know, a big minority has concluded
That I have added this accidentally on purpose;
That it was wrong for this small item to be included.
My esteemed colleagues friendly lawsuit has left me morose.
My friends, their objections are old news and grand delusions;
They’re a random order of good lies to induce cold sweats.
Their shrill yammerings are at best genuine illusions
About us being responsible for our own debts.
I invite you all to join me in the plush Senate Lounge
Where we can put an end to this peaceful hullabaloo
With the finest caviar and champagne that we can scrounge
Served by unionized escorts provided by Cat Ballou.

Great
Senators, yeah, it's unnerving to listen to their own account of things in this country. Pretty damn funny for such a serious subject; curdles my blood sometimes before I sensibly see the problem. Great write.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting on this poem. I have written a series of poems starring the Great Senator. It gives me the opportunity to take a swipe at politicians. Most of them are very poor examples of the human race. I am glad you enjoyed it.

Excellent!
Cleaver! With you as speach writer for BO and Jeff Dunham operating the teleprompter, what could go wrong. I only fear the straight-shooting NRA terrorist. Howard
(Bet that made the NSA computer)

Excellent! Very creative use of oxymorons. I enjoyed this piece all the way through, couldn't wait to read what would come next. I especially enjoyed: "Their shrill yammerings are at best genuine illusions / About us being responsible for our own debts." Lol!
Great job. Good luck in the contest.

Great poem! I'm impressed that you were able to take this prompt and weave it into a wonderful rhyming poem, a poem that is perfect to describe our confused politicians. Bravo!
Love,

Every few days I get a note from a share tipping organisation called the motley fool promising to explain (if I pay the subscription) how government policy can make me rich. Perhaps they haven't realised that I'm not a banker or a politician...

It sounds to me as if someone else is hoping to enrich themselves at your expense. Thanks for reading and commenting. I am glad you enjoyed the poem.

Excellent!
Sincere satire, governmentwise, timely and timeless. Spots the hit and hits the spot on Congressional governance. Exposes the well known secret that cloistered in every oxymoron there could be a canny moron running amok. Admirable maintenance of rhyme (though I suggest taking the s off the first "debts"). Love the illustration too. It's a blinder.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting. I have worked with government regulations for years. I am perhaps too familiar with the seamy side of things. The illustration is of Boss Tweed of Tamany Hall fame. I am glad you enjoyed the poem.

Keep up the good work. sadly most are in the dark. I just loved that Hollywood stunt our Gov. pulled over Manhattan. Who is crazy I wonder? & how much did that cost? Damn I am confused. -
this had a myriad of componants that brought it's ultimate message home!! the picture at the beginning really sets the tone! I think we can all relate on some level to the core message you have shared in this writing. thank you for sharing. keep up the great work. peace to you always in all ways...

Buy it quick. There is going to be a barrel tax increase tomorrow. This will be followed by a barrel manufacturer bail out, and ultimately a government take over of the barrel industry. Thank you for reading and commenting. I am glad you enjoyed the poem.

I don't think he would accept my poetry.
. He might recognize himself or some of his close colleagues. I don't think that either you or I would be the type of poet that Obama was supposedly looking for on AP.
Mike.
P. S. Dammit, I should have nominated you.

Thank you very much for reading and commenting on my work. I think "honest politician is an oxymoron I overlooked as being too obvious. Very few of them do a good job or resist the temptations for too long. I am glad you enjoyed the poem.
