Sculpted sand settles in shapes
teases the mind like cloud forms
to those who live in the wetlands.
Golds, yellows, oranges and reds
the desert is a sunset which can be
traversed by the humble strength of camels.
Indeed the sky alters the landscape shades
on the whim of sun's position, sparkles
off the salt and crystal, embedded in layers.
Shadows sway like belly dancers
as they waver and ripple in the heat
or as they cross the myriad sand speed bumps.
Under the night sky the stars cry out
with all the clarity of the sun during the day
sparkling so brightly as if painted on canvas.
The moon glow turns the sand metallic
the ghostly movements of sand shapes
stirring as the cold settles downwards.
The wetland dwellers call the desert lifeless
but we know it as full of life, wise in solitude
and crafty in wits.
Even the visitor sees the life of course
when the rains come, the flowers bloom
and the earth turns green in envy.

Well gold trophy well deserved! I really like your poetry. You seem to have a PERFECT flow with it each time. All this imagery just coming from desert's sand, I dont know if I could do that yet. You seem to have a gift for taking the littlest of things, and are able to expand it into true beauty. Good job!!!!!!!
Favorite line btw:
"Shadows sway like belly dancers
as they waver and ripple in the heat
or as they cross the myriad sand speed bumps." -

Thank you

JUDGED!
Gorgeous! I'm glad you changed the background cause it could be worth a trophy.
Thank you for entering, best of luck. -
Pending Judgement -- Action Required
The background makes this hard to read and makes me not even want to read this poem, please change the background or text to something clearer and I will return -
-
Hope that helps
Still trying to keep sand sort of colours to fit the poem but hopefully this is more visible to you, if not I will just change it to a black background and white font. -
-
This is fine, thank you!

Nephew...how tastefully and remarkably written in such imagery....This is an outstanding write of descriptiveness, of mood and word choices..One of your best I have seen..The mood of the desert and wetlands, is certainly made clear here! a.
