Will you.....?

Tears cling, unwillingly to leave -
the rain runs them down.
I dress to brave the stinging storm,
but nothing makes my heart warm.
Heavy heart and heavier emotions
cut deep and lay deeper.
Snowfields of memories lay for miles,
and I walk alone -
each step frozen for time eternal.
I breathe and guess the heart pumps,
but am not sure if I am alive.
For when you left,
you took everything -
gifting me the void of your absence.
I wait -
for this desolate moment to end,
for this destitute heart to flourish,
for you to come back soon.
you will..... will you?

    • u know what... he actually did come back sooner than expected to!!!!this poem was dedicated to my husband, who was on a trip and i was lonely without him.. m glad he's back.... thanks so much for ur comment

  • the word "lay" in both cases her should be "lie" but I may have chosen a different word to replace the second one such as "expand" for miles.

It is true sometimes the time that comes right after a hard break-up seems empty as we grieve - pointless - like it will never end, but as always, in the end - this too shall pass.

each step frozen for eternal time. - indeed time is eternal, but we are not. Ironic, that.

Thank you for such a beautiful entry. Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela
