But that I had tasted your lips,
I could rejoice to drink water again,
Now, I have a thirst it cannot quench
But that I had gazed into your eyes,
I could rejoice to look upon the stars again,
Now, I have known beauty they cannot match
But that I had touched your porcelain skin,
I could rejoice in the comfort of silk,
Now I have felt you, and silk becomes coarse
But that I had heard your lovely voice,
I could rejoice to hear the birdsong,
Now I have heard a symphony in your words
But that I had known you,
I could rejoice in any company,
Now I need you, because I love you
So it is, to know you.
Please tell me what you think

a good piece of poetry penned, ah love, it is a wonderful thing at times, what we aim for in life is that high joy, i like the calm approach here, on reading i got this impression of a step away from the self and then letting the world fall from the mind on to the page.

This is a good poem as it describes ones value for another and how one person can mean so much.
