What's left.

We've spent these years
Sitting in a bed of roses
waiting for an ideal bloom.

But in the night,
With silent words and screaming eyes,
We find that all we've been is gone.

What's left of the warmth
that you left on my skin
has numbed out the world.
So I've got nothing left to do this time
but watch our tears as they fall,
And wonder at the marks they leave behind.

And in this new light,
With silent words and screaming eyes,
We find the truths we buried then.

A day ago we knew ourselves,
But now it's not so sure,
The vapor rising on the wind
suggests we're facing something more complex,
There's nothing black or white left on our minds.

So how do we fight,
with silent words and screaming eyes,
All the things we left unsaid?

We've got no way to fix this,
No easy outs and nothing up our sleeves.

With silent words and screaming eyes,
We're reaching out,
and we can't catch each other this time.
