Hit Restore

Missing image
if only I could hit restore
like I do on my computer
bring back the time when
her health was flawless

the time when she could
walk without falling most days
talk without a stutter or a grasp
for once remembered words

words said all her life
no longer making any
rhyme or reason time or season
mean nothing to her now

now my wife lays down to die
her frail hands held in mine
a tear drips down my face
as she slides away from me

an angel comes to take her away
I want to beg to let her stay
though I know she is better off

I still
want to hit restore
