Its the brink of dawn,
The sun is up,
and down the stairs she trots,
My angel.
She's so vastly different,
than my own earth-bound self,
She seems to float miles above,
The rocky terrain that is my home.
She joins me for the morning meal,
Then out the door we go,
Just me and my angel,
To face the world alone.
Our day is filled with love and laughter,
And time spent with each other,
We come home and eventually,
So does he.
He is the devil,
Gone before we wake,
Returning in his angry manner,
Come to shake our foundations.
They fight again,
She shys away from blows,
It always ends with her in tears,
And me right by her side.
She goes to bed and she wakes up again,
The day begins anew,
My angel walking down the stairs,
Optimistic as the day is long.
We start our daily routine,
Forgetting about last night,
The fear and anger,
No longer in her scent.
Thats how I help my angel,
Acting as man's best friend.
