Rainy Hug

I'm sitting here again,
forgotten in the rain,
wishing for a sunny day
to come and warm my skin.

Here comes the march
of make-believe,
standing in a row.

I watch them go by,
stomping in the puddles,
with determination written
on their faces,
they pass right by,
not even pausing to say hello.

I would cry,
but whats the point?
my tears falling
onto the pavement,
melding with the water,
so no one even sees.

My arms wrap around my waist,
trying to feel together,
for I am about to fall apart.

A different kind of wetness,
rough and warm,
touches my hand.

My hands reach out to grab some fur
and feel hot breath upon my face,
to give me another kind of hug,
so I can live today.

The kind of love that never judges you and stays with you no matter what mistakes you make. They melt even the coldest heart on the most sad days. I understand this kind of hug and love. Beautiful Sheila
