Masks Upon the Shelf

Many masks lie upon the shelf.
With each I remove I want to find myself.
I realize to late there is nothing inside.
Dwelling within these clothes of mine.
Hoping that I would find something of worth,
I suddenly recall years before my birth.
A Wonderous man with a great gift to give,
he died for me, that I might live.
Not that I was of value you see,
Just because he valued me.

    excellent expression

You have written many messages in your poem.
Many of us do wear masks to protect ourselves, or to deceive others.

    I especially like:
"Hoping that I would find something of worth,
I suddenly recall years before my birth."

The last four lines are great..
