Japs, Beaners, Niggers,
Krauts, Kikes, and Whiteys
Jungle Bunnies, Towel heads
Greasers, Spics, and Limeys
Dykes, Faggots, Frogs
Chinks, Gooks, and Huns
Chiefs, Curry- Munchers
Crackers, Flips, and Injuns
Whether we are black, white, and yellow
Or somewhere in between
Light skinned, dark skinned, or a mix
A hearts still underneath
You might hear these racial slurs
Walking down the street
In fact I have heard a few
About the people that I see
Yet despite our outward differences
We can all feel pain
And just because we don’t look alike
Doesn’t mean we aren’t the same
We all weep with sadness
And laugh at funny jokes
No matter if we are in jeans
Turbans or in cloaks
And we have all been upset
At crimes, wars, and genocide
Even if we were uninvolved
Our actions weren't justified
We are the people of the earth
The ones that make the world go round
And we can either exalt the human race
Or burn it to the ground
And as humans we all make mistakes
Full of racism and hate
But I know, just a teenage girl
It’s not all right to live this way
We don't have to act or look alike
But be accepting and tolerated
Racial slurs are for the ignorant
Because no one deserves to be hated.

I loved the first two stanzas.
This is so true, and I wish everyone could just realize it.
The flow was really good, but I agree with AshesFromFire that it did snag it places.
Other than that, great write =]

Well, the places that bothered me the most were the last few stanzas.
And this line seems a little too short to me, but I'm not positive:
"Full of racism and hate"

Good poem.
You might hear these racial slurs
Walking down the street
Actually, I never hear racial slurs like that. For the most part, such overt racism is a thing of the past.
But it is still a good idea to denounce such talk.

WOW!
I loved it! This poem speaks of how so many of us feel. I am white of Italian ancestry, my niece is hispanic, my future daughter in law is Iranian, my best friend and maid of honor in my wedding was black. I have friends & family that are Irish, German, Korean, etc. One of my dearest friends is gay and I have several lesbian friends. I am pagan (not of christian belief) my mom is Roman Catholic, two cousins are athiest, my oldest son is agnostic and isn't it wonderful that we all have 1 main thing in common, we are human beings. We love, laugh, feel pain, joy, and we also except each other for who we are! Your poem hit on what a great place this world could be if people realized how much the same we really are. Great poem and the beginning was an automatic eye opener....Love it!

Wow
Great rymeing! I doubt I would ever have been able to ryme genocide with anything! The flow was really nice, but it snagged at tad in just a few places. A verp provocative introduction, most certainly caught my attention. You went head on with the prompt I gave you...and did a lovely job with it I might add. All in all you poem is very pofound (and I mean that in a good way). Best of luck in my contest! This one I like! -
