To My Beloved

Trees live on mountains, Branches live on trees.
My heart lives in your heart.

Your name is a blessing on my tongue.

The thought of you destroys me,
only to make me whole again.

How did this poem make you feel?

    Hi Muirghiel,
This is for me a classic type of poem - Shakepearian influence, I wonder. The last two lines could reflect the shared sentiment of Romeo and Juliet!!

This poem also has a lovely gothic tone to it - the very first line:
"Trees live on mountains, Branches live on trees"
This is a wonderfully gothic image. One only has to think of 'Wuthering Heights' when we read this line!

And then there is this magnificent line:
"Your name is a blessing on my tongue."

This line is so fabulously sensual and pagan!!!!

    Another wonderful poem!
    All the best,
    Liveddog.

If you liked this, then go watch the movie "Curse of the Black Scorpion" or "The Banquet", a Chinese film which inspired this. Simply, I am alive because my beloved is alive. I exist because he exists.

I speak his name when I feel the rapture of my adoration for him.

My heart breaks and my body is weak when I think of him, but the tenderness and love I feel builds me up and makes me strong.

        Hi Muirghiel,
Thank you for the film recommendations - I will check them out.

I presume your partner knows of your undying devotion?

        All the best,
        Liveddog.

This is so beautifully eloquent in its seeming simplicity. So many potentials live in those few words, so many points of view leading to so many emotions. One of the essences you have captured is the paradox of mature love. Beautiful write.

If you liked this one, you might try "Until Nirvana". The same subject, an entirely different approach.
