You Walked Away

The hollow echoes clamp down,
harsh and cold inside this shell,
stunned to silence,
the mind is numb...
and waiting.

Waiting for the smile once more,
to warm and fill.
Laughter to lighten the world,
to hug them tightly and say
"I love you,"
before you walk away.

But now it's you left standing,
feeling hollow,
the world is somehow darker,
tinged with streaked gray,
tinting the world with a shadow,
bistered world unfurling.

The hands that held you
dissapear.
You want to hold them close,
but they have pulled away.

The animosity within your heart,
growls out it's anger,
at being left with scars.
Chagrinned spirit waiting,
prefering this numbness to the pain,
for the foot steps
to break the silence,
with the familiar rythm.

Author notes

I kind of think that I could have done far better... But, I wrote this rather quickly and am hoping that something good came of it. I will admit that, honestly, I have a hard time seing something that actually went right with it... If you could, would you mind pointing out the good and what you particularly thought could have been improved? No garuntees I'll fix it... but, it'd be nice to know...
