threats
violence
scare tactics
hitting us
in our hearts
our psyche
where
we live
work
congregate
if we can't
work
we can't
eat
if we can't
earn a living
we can't pay
rent
if we are
forced
to hide in the
closet
we disappear
like a discarded
bit of disease
beginning to believe
we don't deserve
to exist
it's time for the masses
to S T O P u s i n g
un-Holy Scripture
as justification
for violence
abuse
ostracizing
harassing
crucifying
propostion:
is silence enough
to send a message
to hypocrites
that daily crucify
Christ (in the name
of Holy Scripture)
over and over
without pausing...
to think, to remember
what the Master
said: "Love one another
as I have loved you."
when Jesus admonished
the crowd by saying:
"who among you is
without sin? let him cast
the first stone"
Jesus used
non-violence
but to us
what does that mean
when people across our
country, "the land of the free
and the home of the brave"
are being killed
violated, harassed
fired, discriminated against
murdered in the name of
"Holy Scripture"
when is silence not enough:
when the war of self-respect,
self-governement
self-preservation
rages like the Red Sea
turning back on Pharoah,
like the tunnel of fire held
the Egyptians at bay as
their fury raged
...out of control
seeking death as the
answer
in fields of dishonor
each soul must live
at risk
24/7
take a stand
relinquish life
if necessary;
Dr. Martin Luther King
said:
"I have a vision!"
"give me liberty... (to choose
the life I lead or uncivilization...
society at large, face up...own up
to the murderous annihilation
of thousands, millions, of gay and
lesbian human beings,
like you did to the Galilean,
who chose
in the name of religious truth...
to die
or the over six million Jews in
hitler's nazzi germany...) or
in the name of freedom
give me death."

Thank you so much for your comments on WHEN SILENCE ISN'T ENOUGH.

This was completely amazing! And even that isn't enough to sum up how much I loved this poem.
I loved the flow, and the shortness of the lines made it seem quicker which added to the emotion.
I wish that contest could of had 2 Gold trophies, because this one definitely deserves it too.

First off, I'd like to say, I think their are WAYY too many line breaks in this. I think if you narrowed down the line breaks then the flow would be amazing. That and use the spell check, it's your friend. Other than that, I don't have any constructive criticsm. I did like this though, your emotions on the subject are great, and I really liked what you did with this. The ending was great, rewording that. Great job on this and good luck in the contest.
