my friend, my dream

waiting
sleep will come
for now its just me and the darkness
silence
my ipod is sitting silent
yet i wish i could listen to it
hear its comforting sound
and never sleep again

as i lie there
comtemplating wether or not ill ever sleep
i notice my stereo light
red, glowing
then i notice my charger light
red, glowing
slowly my mind
morphs those tiny little lights
into glowing orbs of hate-filled eyes
of the monster within
i watch as reality becomes a dream

slowly the red eyed giant
rears his ugly head
he stays well within the shadows
he sneaks around the moonlight
which has intensified in this dreamland
brighter than the sun
i watch as he opens his mouth
fangs glistening
when did my vision become so clear?

i see him perfectly
better than with my glasses
his head is that
of a snarling wolf
with the body of a man
he's covered in thick, shaggy fur
black as evil
his tail is long and cat-like
spikes run along his spine
softly he growls
i watch

inside i see it
a broken mirror
i see only the refletion
of a wilted rose
i slowly reach over
and pull up the blinds
the moonlight pours in
before my eyes he becomes a kitten
covered in a soft fuzz
black as nothing
i reach down and pick him up

he begins purring
slowly i lay down
and he curls into
the hollow of my shoulder
darkness slips over me

morning
i reach
to where the kitten was
nothing
only the warmth of dreams past
