This is beautiful, as always, Mandy. It's sad but delicate and serene in its wording. I loved that line about the caged birds free within the sky. That brought about great imagery. Excellent.

This can apply to so very many situations within life. Reminds me of the finally letting go period towards the end of a long tired relationship, the final days of an illness, the attempt to avoid the emotional whithering that can occur when release cannot be achieved.

This is a very beautiful poem. I love the rhythm that you establish in the first stanza and the idea that even caged birds are free is for me the truly heart-breaking line. I felt you lost a little bit of that rythm in the second stanza though when the rhym changes.
