The only memory I have to share
is not of the joy, or happiness of family
but of the darkness and sorrow of mistakes.
I took my only love
to meet my family.
Uncles and aunts,
cousins, and almost cousins.
but while I was there,
I forgot the most important thing.
I forgot to show her that I loved her,
I forgot to talk to her,
I forgot to make her feel like she mattered.
I messed up,
I made her invisible,
without intent I hurt and forgot,
and worst of all, ignored her.
I'm sorry.

This is a powerful memory that reinforces actions that should be paid more attention to. I hope that this situation was in some way corrected and that you were able to learn from this event. Thanks for sharing this thoughtful and personal memory.

Oh, I'm so sorry. You need to let go of this. I'm sure you did not mean it, and was excited to see your family.
I can feel your deep regret in this poem.
