Why wasn't Finny asleep on the bed?
He didn't lay down on my feet or my head,
he wasn't up playing with P, S, or Fred.
Oh, why wasn't Finny asleep on the bed?
He wasn't off baking a pie or a cake,
or anything else he was driven to make,
like a pizza or omelet or muffin or steak -
I don't even think he can cook, for pete's sake!
He wasn't off writing a novel or play,
Or choreographing a brand new ballet
Where he dances and boogies the whole night away;
If he had been, then that would be okay.
I wonder why Finny was off of the bed.
Could he have been dreaming of something he'd read?
Or waiting impatiently for to be fed?
Or did he have someone to go to instead?
Author notes
Based on my thoughts as I woke up this morning... in the style of Dr. Seuss?
Please tell me things. Lots of things.
