Today I watched an actor
Tall, charming, talented, gorgeous
Kiss another freeze-framed macho character
-Hard, pained-
For the glory of his craft,
And I thought -
I feel your pain.
Not those heartwrenched, heartthrob actors
Who can chalk it up to necessary sacrifices,
Professionalism at its best,
And if no one sees them slinking out that creaking rusted door,
So much the better...
They're actors, never questioned.
Never question.
No, I am a character,
Reaching softly for forbidden faces,
Caressing jawlines,
Slack-jawed, pacing,
Hard and pained
And silent.
I cannot be questioned.
I must not be questionable.
