I Am: We Are

Missing image

Gardens in rocky places,
roots scrambling for hold
against a kinder air
that will eventually dry and drift us
to another ground.

I am a shaft of feather in a bird’s wing,
a mite on skin of a petal,
a color embedded in wing of a butterfly,
a trail of light after a leaf’s shudder.

We are One!

I am the altar upon an altar upon god’s hand.

I am but a picture of his generosity in a lonely land.

We are One in this aloneness in purpose
and yet togetherness in the whole spinning
chaos within order.

We are but an eyelash on the eye of Creator,
bark on Buddha’s tree,
a droplet of sweat in a great ceremony,
a particle of air we all breathe.

We are One; alone and together
like two transplanted poppies
brushing against each other in a sigh of a wind.

Come breed and breathe me, graft your skin against mine
but for a moment it takes to remember
we are the ecstasy of yet another touch.

Author notes

No one thing is superior to another. No one being is any greater than another. We are all on the same path, albeit, twining and twisting and round and round as the world path. We are all on different levels of understanding and work that we have promised to do down here in taking care of Mother Earth and each other. None is master of nature or animals or plants or others. We are all companions here. We are cohabitants. We own nothing but our reaction to the intimacy of Universal touch.

  • This is very impressive and true even without your notes. The ending is just wonderful. Very well done. Thanks for entering and good luck.
