the spray-on citrus scent
lingered like a halo above
our torsos injecting our
veins with lemon-seed
pastels.
+
the scent of your skin
reminded me of
foreign flowers,
and you laughed
at my ignorance
of gardens
and threw tulip petals
in the air.
I saw in your eyes
that you were afraid
of your own knowledge.
+
you taught me about music and
neverending white lights
played on while we explored once-empty
cavities and we took turns pouring honey-words
into each others hearts.
I foolishly thought that this is what love must be like.
+
a breathless encounter
with smoky bacardi breath
was my only previous experience
until you daintily whispered in your drugged state
you aren't my type.
lingered like a halo above
our torsos injecting our
veins with lemon-seed
pastels.

Author notes
prompt: infinite.
sorry this is odd.
infinity doesn't exist. sorry to burst anyones bubble.
according to this website I found, the flower lilac means earliest love. I thought it was rather fitting.

infinity is a mathematical anomaly.
i annoy my teacher, i don't understand it and i ask every lesson.
he's given up trying to explain anymore
i also don't understand your last stanza. i don't think i'm supposed to. it seem better that way, though.
this is so thick with imagery and metaphors and above all beautiful emotion.
i can't pick pieces that i don't like. it's too hard.
i love it all. all. all. all. all.

infinity makes me wonder.. like, there must be an infinite amount of numbers (decimals/fractions/whatever) between all the nukbers, so does that mean there are no numbers because infinity is between each one?
I don't know.
Never mind.

&congrats on the gold, well deserved

i don't know, i really don't care. I've tried for so long to understand maths, but when it comes to the basic things, i just cannot understand why numbers work. [or don't]
i agree with you though, it doesn't seem like numbers are real, they're just words in the end. we could change all the numbers to colours, and it should still work. so we're basing everything, physics, chemistry, english, photography, on something, which i guess just isn't there.
that scares me.

"the spray-on citrus scent

Wonderful.
Your openings are always so engaging!
"I saw in your eyes
that you were afraid
of your own knowledge."
It's amazing how we can see that isn't it?
"honey-words" - amazing.
"I foolishly thought that this is what love must be like."
I've thought that too, I can so relate
"you daintily whispered in your drugged state
you aren't my type."
Your ending is just as fantastic as your opening!
Thank you so much.
This is getting added to my list.
Love you.
