Unscathed

Fermenting human emotion oozes in all directions
knowing only the primitive handful,
joy, anger, sadness, anxiousness, love

Faces stretch and remold to uphold societal rules,
Actions explained through other means,
Everyone wearing their appointed façade,
Booze, drugs, and gratuitous sex fill their emblematic canteens.

Prayers made half-heartedly go fully unanswered,
People search for purpose through magical assurance,
Blind-folded logic rules many minds,
None finding love of true radiance.

Souls search for their other half,
Surreptitious feelings and lies build upon one another,
Most unions soak in deceit and eventually cease,
Many begin asking why even bother.

Human nature is erroneous,
We wear no façade for one another,
In you I find compliments to thrive,
To “why even bother” I’ve found my answer.

Truth always spoken and love fully bestowed,
All emotional walls and guards relinquished,
In us, two hearts truly intertwine,
Our embodiment of love impervious to the world so tarnished.
