The world is dark,
Winter makes a blanket of snow,
Not a creature moves,
Or maybe exists,
The emptiness tugs at the heart.
February 2901
"And it looks as though this is the end,
Iran and Korea have pushed the button,"
My newscaster is panicking,
"What can we do? Where do we go?
Its over folks, all over,
The curtains coming down on us!"
Those two words so tossed around,
Nine hundred years ago,
Have become a reality,
In radioactive snow.

Well this poem reaches to the future to ask some profound questions: such as, when will we ever learn? A world on the brink then as now, and does mankind finally fall off the edge. Wonderful imagination and insight here, very well done. Thank you for this fine entry into the contest and best of luck in the judging...PK
