I close my eyes and gently blow
Then watch my troubles float away
The things I heard my Daddy say
While he was hitting Mom today.
From my bedroom I can hear
His shouts, her screams are all too near
The sounds attack my cowering ear
It's time to run away.
All night I ran, through brush and bramble
Hardly seeing what's ahead.
All the while a sense of dread
Is mounting in my heart.
What if Daddy finds me here?
Will he search this far from home?
I have nowhere else to go,
So I'll keep following the road.
I don't remember lying down
But when I woke I looked around
I heard a soft, clean rustling sound
As wind wound through the dandelions.
I sat there in a sea of white,
Dazed by its simplicity
It seemed as if they spoke to me,
Whispering my name.
I pick up one that’s close to me
I raise it slowly, tenderly
And wish with all that’s left of me;
Then blow my dreams away.
What did you think

Wow. This is brilliant. It is painful, and sad and so very well written!
Your words made my heart ache and my stomach tremble for you.
My breathing stopped, as I read your words and got caught up in them...

Whoa.

What an ending to such an emotional poem; the high rise of pain and sadness flows so effortlessly down the page it was stinging my heart and then I reached the final stanzas and my heart just about stopped
Amazing!
