Watch Out For Falling People

One quick step and no way back
Going up not forwards
It's harder than I thought
Sixty feet as a matter of fact
To look over a bleeding city
With a camera in my hand
Telling myself this is what photographers do
Think of the ones that gave their lives
Ahh, but the outlaws don't understand
It's proof to them
No more no less
No beauty in it, just life sentences
And corpses
Yes, don't forget the corpses
I'll try to keep them out of my head
While I'm going up, look down they said
I'll let the camera flash just once
Zoomed in close on a white church steeple
There should be a warning
Caution, watch out for falling people

Author notes

I got to go up in a bucket truck at the church work day today and, while alot of people took pictures (most of the people at the workday went up, not just me) I was the only one that took the camera up with me sixty feet in the air. And it scared me at first, being up there, its not like the bucket was perfectly still the way the workers make it look and it made me think of the photographers that have died for ttheir work. Yes, I know, I'm highly over dramatic and always jumping to the worst thoughts. I knew I wasn't going to fall out or die or anything, but it just made me think of it. And so this came out.

Ahh, the last line was a joke we used alot through out the day while they were cutting branches from the bucket truck. That was the whole reason it was there because two members at our church own it and run their own tree trimming and removal business but it was a joke when we first saw the bucket jolt when it was first taking the guy that owns it (his wife, who also owns it, worked on the ground for today). Theyd all told us to watch out for falling limbs and the guy up there said maybe we didn't need to watch out for falling limbs so much as falling people.

Oh, and penguins....cause everyone loves penguins and the contest-maker said I had to put that here!
