With Appologies to Henry Rollins

I have your stuff in a box
I’m waiting for you to come and get it.
Just use the key I gave you and let yourself in.
There’s even a little surprise for you.
(A shotgun wired to the back of my apartment door.)
Just leave the key in the door.
I’ll get it after the police leave.

Author notes

I was reading early Henry Rollins stuff and dating a very volatile woman. We fought a lot.

I found the last line of your author's notes a lot more intriguing than your poem. Maybe expand on the sour relationship within the piece, and allude to the gun with volatile metaphors rather than making it a rather mundane play-by-play of what's where. With a little work this piece could be bitter and chilling.

Best of luck and thanks for entering!
