Sense and Sensibility

I almost pity those

sons of bitches

who

take life out on others.

Author notes

Inspired by these quotes (among other things):

In hastily forming and giving his opinion of other people, in sacrificing general politeness to the enjoyment of undivided attention where his heart is engaged, and in slighting too easily the forms of worldly propriety, he displayed a want of caution which Elinor could not approve.
Sense and Sensibility
Elinor Dashwood's view of Willoughby, Chapter 10.

The world had made him extravagant and vain - extravagance and vanity had made him cold-hearted and selfish. Vanity, while seeking its own guilty triumph at the expense of another, had involved him in a real attachment, which extravagance, or at least its offspring necessity, had required to be sacrificed. Each faulty propensity in leading him to evil, had led him likewise to punishment.
Sense and Sensibility.
Sense and Sensibility
Elinor's thoughts on Willoughby, Chapter 44.

His own enjoyment, or his own ease, was, in every particular, his ruling principle.
Sense and Sensibility
Elinor on Willoughby, to Marianne, Chapter 47.

I totally agree, and quotes are subjective criticism when it comes to quality of quantity, I think this is quite lovely actaually.

Wow - you have bridged a huge abyss here, between Jane Austen and Bukowski - I am giggling at the thought, and imagining a meeting - thanks for the levity!

well the most I can say about this is that I agree with you. I too don't like it when people take things out on others. Thanks for sharing this with us.
