Flying in to cactus clouds and blonde skies

If I could fly away anywhere- my feet would pound into the dust and dissapear under blonde desert skies. I'd lay in the hot sand and watch the life emerging from the ashes of a living fire.

There are no memories of you there- no ghosts of two girls jumping into the waves or dragging buckets of sea water to dump into sand pits- just empty stretches of cream bulimic sand.

There is only emptiness and semi solid shadows lurking beneath my knees and shoulder blades. Taffeta speckles in the dirt chafe my ankles as the super nova of purple fire burn my skin and I'd stare at the sky for hours- painting the mirages of olive oil blended centric colors and the sour vinegar bright colors into my memories. Hoping that they'd seep into my thoughts and bleed into the moving pictures of our history- staining those memories from existance.

My bare feet would stain the sand with foot prints and my heart would seep into the prickly green plants surviving the heat. I'd burn air as my arms beat furiously- hoping that maybe one second, one day, one hour- I'd just fly.

  • I think you misspelled disappear in the first line. Thats the only problem i see with the poem. Its kinda lengthy and a bit confusing but i'm also really tired so don't take my word for it lol. Thanks for entering and good luck in the contest.
