Ms. Marvel's Plan for Personal Power

Not one to seek fame and fortune,
but rather a dreamer and achiever,
Ms. Marvel employs methods opportune
to support each associate as a believer.

Possessing the ability to bring out the best,
to be motivational and understandable,
to be supportive and ready to meet each test,
unconventional is she,  but always dependable.

Among her deep, dark secrets are the frequencies
she blew with the wind, accepting  the unexpected,
major events in her life unanticipated opportunities
not planned, not rejected, but accepted and respected.

Deeper, darker her method of planning backwards,
starting at the finish line, not waiting for a clock to chime,
whether products to sell, publishing deadline, dinner party,
massive project or merely getting out of the  house on time.

The method, to Imagine the outcome, successful and grand,
then plot backwards, by months, weeks, days or hours
with sub-deadlines in place, contacts made, supplies on hand,
keeping up with the schedule to attain incredible personal powers.

The deepest and darkest secrets of all---
illusion as elusive as clouds in the sky,
freedom as precious as air,
hopes willing to fly;

smiles in abundance every day,
pleasures  simple or lavish,
colors in which to play,
ideas to joyously ravish;

family and friends to care,
minds to explore,
time to create,
life itself to adore.

Secrets, for all to share...

  • You go Ms. Marvel ...

and don't stop until the "fat lady sings that final hymn and the heavens open wide as you ascend to that place where love knows no bounds! I liked your poetic summation! j y

    • Ah, joy---did you know the Whocunnit is at the moment
expericencing the "fat lady" singing as we have a film
projected on the stage screen of the beloved Kate Smith!
Ma. Marvel likes to give homage to past icons!

Nice if you to stop in.

      T-Diz, thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The piece came to be because of Charli-J's contest prompt,
as Ms. Marvel really wasn't looking for power, but upon
thinking about, realized that "taking care of business"
and getting things done, indeed, gives one a sense
of power from staying in control. Being helpless,
at the whim of others was never her thing!
So, a lot of M-C in Ms. Marvel!!!!

oh you..you are wise..and beautiful..and thank you soo much for this!
    "smiles in abundance every day,
    pleasures simple or lavish,
    colors in which to play,
    ideas to joyously ravish;"
if i had to pick a favorite verse...it's a shame the images didn't come through..i am sure they are as aesthetically pleasing as your written work.

Hey. C-J! I had already browsed your entries
and chosen my favorites, which after the fact,
were your selections, also, I discover.
I wanted to honor the event, your contest
so let MS Marvel speak a bit! Thank you
for including me in your selections.

I was happy so see that the shining maa
entered her words here. A sparking gem is she.

And honors to you for hosting a contest
      that inspired writers to reveal
      what is truly inside!

Oh, re the graphics. New AP situation since February. As a judge, you can simply log off
and come in as a visitor and they you would have seen them. Now that the contest is over they
should show uo for you. I actually re-used two of the earliest drawings I created here at AP, having
been "tied" to a brush for so long.

    Ms. Marvel's a chameleon, isn't she

Seems that way to me, anyway. Love your scheme within lines, much less the rhyme. But I know you're a master at it, a way I like to use for prose, too. Ms. Marvel seems cold-blooded in her approach but that doesn't lessen the warmth of love you give her. Having fun, are you? Good for you, Arty. Jack

      Cold blooded! Oh, no!
Just her persona for the show!

      Muti-tasking, spreading love,
keeping life moving with a shove!

Ah, mired in the Whodunnit Mystery,
John, the Usher providing the audience a key!

So nice to see you here, Jack!

Ah ms Marvel has had her experiences...

Among her deep, dark secrets are the frequencies
she blew with the wind, accepting the unexpected,
major events in her life unanticipated opportunities
not planned, not rejected, but accepted and respected.

That can both be a strong point and a weak one. Sometimes it's good to go along...at other times it's not. If more folk had questioned the Iraq war, and not just gone along...

But of course here it speaks of your (for this ain't about no Ms. Marvel!) ability to cope with the unexpected!

No correlation with war for me, but, yes,
      more Feingolds holding their ground!

      Remembering vividly, I never believed
W would really do it. I was so trusting.
It seemed an incredibly stupid thing to do.
I just didn't realize how stupid the decider was.
and neither did the dems that went along for
      the more weapons inspector plan.
      Duped, all of us.

Had the atlas laid out in front of me,
following the path as the troops
went in. Still remember the night
that David Bloom met his end.

Re the "going along"---always thought I was
a big city gal, but pursued by the Superintendent
of a school system in a city of only 10.000 people,
as I prepared to graduate from college.
Nicer than other interviwers, came right to
Mount Mary, sent repeated letters, telegrams
      and phone calls.

And here I still am. Didn't fight it, thought
it was fate or the will of......

(And married a local, not my Air Force fiancee.
      Hmmmmmm...Milwaukeeans would not have my
firstborn's "voice" to "guide" them if I had chosen
to be the Air Force wife!!)

Time after time, it happened that way,
something or someone seeking me out.

Or happenstance, all the seats in the auditorium
ripped out in summer---young summer theater
director asks art teacher what to do...and then
it was mine for the next 15 years!

      Enough of Ms. Marvel!

What did chance do for you???

I'm pleased you called it chance and not fate, much the same way I am pleased someone calls their "muse" by its real name "inspiration."

Lets see, what has chance done for me...not much of any good. lol

Mainly nothing has happened in my life...it is one long period of stasis. Not that I mind.

Your reply is a wonderful write on its own and deserves it's own post, maybe under a new list called "life'', ''chance'', or some more creative name.

          Ah, yes, fate would indicate
          some riveting state
from which we could not escape,
          blindly accepted by some.
          Not for Ms. Marvel.

          Even my career change,
          planned for long term stability
          happened by chance,
          Despite the artful resumes,
          helpful referrals from
          advertising executives,
          it was a casual encounter
          in a grocery store, with
the aunt of a former student
that brought my brush to clay!

          Oh, again you minimize
          your cross country jaunts,
          your levels of higher learning,
your writing skills to die for,
          the charm you exude every
          day and night!!

          A list title?
          Created a new terminology
          replying on a river
          flooded by pix,
          "intermusing,"
          my next title, perhaps!

          Thank you, Mayne

Wow, you wrote all that quickly...proof of a sharp mind.

No chance with work, my dad worked there and so did my brother. I just followed the path they left for me.

The jaunts were singular, well, two but for the same woman. A good experience but not much chance involved. Just love and a chance to escape from a drunk and drug addicted brother who was spiralling out of control and threatened to take me with him. He's been straightened out since then so maybe it served its purpose.

Intermusing? That is what me and Ima do.

              Well, good sense you showed,
              you must admit that!

              Intermusing---so many interpretations,
              particularly inbred Yemish ones!!!
But it's my new word for us to share,
              all the Yemians!!!!
