The Therapy Chair

You finally ask,
“What is wrong with you?”
My feelings, my attitude,
That’s what’s wrong.

You decide to ask,
“Why is that so?”
Because they didn’t understand me.
That’s what’s wrong.

You go on to say,
“Who is ‘they’?”
My friends, my family.
That’s what’s wrong.

You ponder and say,
“What caused that?”
I am different. They are normal.
That’s what’s wrong.

You tell me,
“No, they are messed up.”
They have it together.
That’s what’s wrong.

Author notes

Hehe...all of my poems seem to be about true stories. This one is as well, but it's sort of a mix of counseling and talking to somebody else on here. Written a couple of months ago.

  • Hey, I recognise this... haha. (And after mugging 700pages of Psychology for my finals last week, the reality is actually that there're no "normal" people out there! Haha. It's like, everyone has their little quirks that make them unique... and uh, not too-normal. You've got it right- the normal people are the weird ones hehe)

Have you heard of this band, Superchick? They've this cool song I think you might like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C_whi9GmAO8. ^^

    Take care,
    Char

    • Good point on the nobody being normal. I have thought about how everybody really does have an bigg-ish issue of some sort but just thought it would work better for the poem.
yup, i've heard of the band because my sister likes them a fair amount, but i just have this strange thing against girl vocals...even though I'm a girl! 100% of the songs on my ipod are guy singers/guy bands (except for the back-up vocalist of Skillet because they're rock enough for me ) But there are a couple of their songs I like. Can't name them though. and for some reason the link doesn't work. what song is it?

      • It's 'We Live'. Heh... then you gotta check out 'Bright Eyes'- male vocals and he's (Conor Oberst) a total musical genius!

        • Oh yea! I've heard that song before. It was on the radio station I used to listen to, like, 4 years ago or something. Good song. but Bright Eyes...I don't care much for them. Sorry if that disappoints you.
