And those that do His will
As for me - my feet were slipping
I was almost gone
To the very edge of the cliff
I was jealous of the rich and proud
What was I thinking ?
They seem to have smooth sailing
Those fat cats have everything
What ever their hearts desire
I was so utterly dismayed
They scoff mockingly at God
And rail agaist the heavens
Yet their riches multiply
Does God know whats happening ?
Have I been wasteing my time ?
Why take the time to be pure ?
Look at those that hate God
They prosper doing evil tricks
Am I jealous of evildoers ?
Then I came to my senses
They are the ones on the slippery slope
These fat cats will slip into Hell
Except they truely repent
All their dreams will become nightmares
Oh God - I must be like an animal to you
Coveting their ill gotten riches
You are the rock of my heart
I will get closer to you my God
And forsake the proud - forgive me
Author notes
Just with all the corporate theft taking place in the world today - the truth must be told - let the righteous keep their eyes on the eternal prize - knowing that the fat cat crooks will get their reward twice - lol - while they were here on Earth and then at the Judgement. I used a Psalm to frame this poem - which one ?

Although I'm no believer of your god, this was a pleasure to read, and you were so truthful to you're words when describing, those confounded leaders and rich people of ours in this world.
You know, I know a little bit about a little bit about you're god, as I used to believe, (I've my reasons of turning away), they say god has given each of us a gift and to use it for good and to help each other, now in the rich people's perspective, you wonder why they don't help with poverty etc etc, because they are greedy, they have abused their gifts, you think with anything you'd have the celebrities helping to speak out for our Earth and people, alike.
No, they've been shaded by lust and greed, but think of it like this, you're oh so right about forsaking the proud, don't feel bad it's good!
As a matter of fact we should create a group solely for this purpose.
They WILL drown in their greed what they don't know is with their greed, hate and lust, they will fall because they refuse to see the bigger picture, our Earth is dying, without it we all die, why can't these people use their power of status to put it to good use and helping the Earth?
Arrgh it makes me so mad lol's.
Anyway totally going off track here, this was really good to read and obviously, raised really good points, thankyou very much for sharing.
Be forever grateful for what you have.
Goodluck to you!

Wow! I'm very impressed, I can really relate to this, sometimes it's just sooo hard to be thankful for what you have when you see other people's houses or ather belongings... I consider myself pretty lucky, though. I've seen so many people worse off than I am!
-
This is a terrific write. Thank you so much for giving me the oppurtunity to read this. Not many people see things for the way they really are I believe you've probably shown some with this great write. Thanks for entering the contest and good luck!

The rich are sometimes hard not to be jealous of. But money doesn't make anyone better than others!
Good Luck! -

Thank You Kindly

This is good--but I like the last two words the best. That's the way to get closer to God. As for which Psalm, that is going to take some time to figure out!

-
-
The Sound Of Creation Is Beautiful Music
Oh I'm sure you will figure it out - start at Psalm 1 and read to the end of the book - lol - hint - it's about midway - we have to stop and give our spirit a shake - keeping our eye on the prize that is set before us - asking for forgiveness daily - Bless God - Joe - dobar dan

lOOK AT THE wealthy TODAY, are they not being swepted away by the economy's downward spiral; not to mention natural disaster. We are not to rejoice over lost soul; however, we also are not to misunderstand the call on our lives. Good write

-
you have written very nice one. that's what we will never know, what will happen after.
and the bad ones hope (though they have no hope or faith) there's nothing after death.
and the other ones hope and believe, coz they believe anyway, the God is merciful and so the next step will be more happy comparing the life we are leading here.
but the question is, aren't we suppose to live a life filled with all God's mercy & joy ???
which ones are we than??????

We Can Know Sona
This poem is about jealousy - it's self-explanitory - as far as what happens after death - thats in The Fathers hands - what Heaven is like ? jealousy and envy are such powerful emotions, scary what they can inspire a human to do. I agree with many of your former comments mostly "Money is the root of all evil", in which I strongly believe is so. Absolutely fascinating job. Can't wait to read more. Thanks for sharing your talent!

Money Is Not The Root Of All Evil celisha
The "love" of money is the root of evil - thanks for the compliment/applause - don't read all my poems at once ehhh - it just may get your head spinning - lol - I just think you may like my poem - "Two Poles" - have a great day - and Blees god - Joe - (dobar Dan) ------------------------------------------------------ peace

Oh my goodness about time somebody spoke the truth about corporate theft. I don't have problems with rich people although I am not rich by any means but its the ones that take and take and take but doesn't give anything back in the world.. doesn't do anything for anybody and only thinks of themselves. I don't like those kinds of people, but I do admire the ones that actually work hard to get where they are at (although its almost impossible with the way the economy's been going.)
Anyways a thoughtful poem and you do speak the truth and brought the light on a subject most people fail to recognize.
I like this one.

Thanks much - I agree 100% with your reply

Poet
Being rich, though I am not, is not a sin. To progress and yet understand being human can be a great plus. But then again to live as a prince & deny your people the simplist of things. That is un-God like & must be seen for what it is.

-
Thanks Bob
No argument with youon your reply here - lol - shucks - It is "The love of money that is the root of all evil" - thanks for the comment and applause - was hoping yuou woild read a poem that would stir up an argument - lol Cheers - Joe --------------------------------------------------------------------- peace

Gives thought to what is happening in the world!
Love your expression to God "You are the rock of my heart' Great penning!

Glad you liked it - and I will keep penning - lol - Bless God - Joe

Well its easier for a camel to pass through the eye of needle than for a rich man to get into heaven. Always something to be a little thoughtful about when your cash is running low and you see bankers getting huge pensions. I think the rewards god gives are probably better than the payouts you get here, since they just enable you to buy stuff while gods love makes you happy. A simple poem because its the sort of thing that needs to be put simply I think.
-
-
Thanks Aedara -
Couldn't have said it better myself - thanks for the lovely comment and li'l sermonette - lol- loved it- you should make a poem out of it - lol - A rich man on his camels back (Or in his Cadilac) - etc - thanks again - Bless God - Joe -
-
Lol, nice playing with words there, I have always wondered why it was a camel and a needle, I'm sure there's some cultural explanation for the choice. Not sure I could make a poem out of such things though, I'm not good on the moral messages.

Spoken from the Heart
Joe, the fat cats may be richer now but you said it, unless they repent they will never get into the golden gates of Heaven....I wonder sometimes if they are really happy...I myself think even tho we are the poorer ones we have to be happier....I know God is there for all of us and you speak the truth in saying God is the rock of your heart....He will help you and anyone overcome the anger they have with the fat cats.....He will bless you more than you can imagine for just being yourself.....I would never want to be in there shoes, happy just being a average person....Great write......ML

Did You Read The Authors Comments ?
Amen - When I speak of the fat cats - I do mean the ones that steal - cheat - lie - - I don't mean people like many rich that worked hard doing things honestly - Angelo di Luce - commented below - lol - he had the nerve to say I am wrong - lol - perhaps he doesnt realise these are not my words - the prompt for this poem is a Psalm - which one ML - when you find it let me know - Angelo should read my poem "A Beggar Angel" ehhh - Bless God - Joe

Who said rich people have an easy ride, you are wrong friend or you assumed so
Anyway it does not mean because someone is rich he is bad too, there is no rich and poor in this world just jealous people who are lazy to open their hand and take their share of good things
That is how I see things
Asfor god he could not care less who got money or not, we are all his children and he only knows each one of us right deep in our hearts
Thank you for sharing your write

Thanks Angelo for the applause
Bless God so He can Bless You - Joe

Great JOb!!!!
Hey Joe...I am sure this hits home with alot of us from time to time...But you know the word declares the wealth of the wicked is stored up for the righteous...Hang in there because there is about to be a transfer that is undeniable my friend when God moves, people will notice...but you are right when we are envious we should repent before God and hold tight to his promises to his children!!!! Your love for God really shines through in this piece!!!!Toni~~~

-
-
Thanx Toni -
Well - It's God love for us that shines through - this poem is for the both the righteous and the unrighteous - it is for those who think that gain is Godliness - lol - but Godliness with contentment is great gain - a great example of "The Upside Down Kingdom" - get the book Toni -- it's a worthwhile read - Bless God - Joe
