On My Way Home

There's a demon inside of me
Auditioning in this society
and now it's plain to see, there's no place to be
But that's alright with me
A loosened screw, alright with you?
You wanna do
me wrong, same old song
The candle in the night was burning strong
but not for long, not tonight
The end in sight but you refrain
to maintain the upkeep of my remains
and failed to keep, sold for cheap
What you sow is what you reap
The toxic words you speak, my ears,
they leak into
A few at a time
or a slew for dime at a pay phone
on my way home
Severing ties in my life while I hone
the edge of my knife with a stone that you chiseled
with your lies

    I like.........luv ya cuz....

  • Sort of on the order of SLAM poetry as I understand it to be. It sort of has that "stream of conciousness" feel throughout most of the poem and then finishes on a strong metaphoric "stone of lies." Very nice work.

  • great write big bro! you tried something new i like that =)

  • A loosened screw, alright with you? Of course it is, dear. You're like me, a whole lotta rhyme in your freewrite...nice rant!
