Springtime Play

The morning orb leisurely awoke
as the song birds tweeted and chirped

A picturesque morning like no other
sent bees buzzing to their work

Swiftly sweeping through the sky
the wind whistled while it worked

Establishing a fresh new day
like a blank page inside a book

Blossoms bloomed for all to see
adding color to the world
Painting pictures of beginnings
just waiting to be unfurled

The orb bounces forward
providing light for all mankind

Leaving those who received it first
with less radiance than preferred

~~~
Time flew by and the day grew old
but children still laughingly play
Memories construct through laughter
and smiles which never fade away
Blue converts to darker shades
while afternoon begins to fade
Wind whistles on ‘til the day is gone,
making way for nighttime’s play
Children gather up their toys
and say goodnight to all their friends
Hoping that tomorrow brings
more time for them to play
~~~

No more birds, no more bees,
only crickets to be heard

Natural moonlight fills the sky
while stars sparkle and shine

Only whispers to be heard are
the children and their prayers
Starting off with thank you’s
and safety for those they care

For mom, and dad, and puppy
and maybe a sibling or two
But mostly just a fun tomorrow
full of memories brand new

With children in bed peacefully
snoring and dreaming away
The orb bounces back again
waiting to come out and play

    I think you did a fine job here. I was actually saddened when I first thought this was one stanza. This should remind all of being a kid...playing until you drop (or the sun does.) The same child only wishes for a tomorrow much like today. Such simple wishes. Thank you for writing this piece.

      That was kind of the purpose of this piece, but mostly just for the purpose of my project.
