I relax in an early morning shroud of anonymity
for the rays of dawn are still too weak to see.
The mountain stands so proud in the distance,
as clouds lazily meander through the still dark sky.
Early birds, still unseen, can be heard calling
of the activity that will be coming to this day.
Peace fills my being in this tranquil dusky setting.
For this is the time when I can just be still
and listen as the morning whispers to my soul.

A moment of stillness to listen as the world wakes. What wonderful images this conjures up for me, and warms damp mornings.

I wonder how many different songs the early birds sing getting ready for the day. Hundreds I imagine, to the point of relentless chattering. Imagine!
Thank you for submitting this poem in the contest. I enjoyed your words very much. ~Pamela
