Receptive Silence - VIDEO RECITAL

I watch the clouds of pleasure and despair
appear and disappear within my mind
Their essence, as intangible as air
seems like a ghost, impossible to find

But who’s the watcher of this spooky dance ?
Am I wave, cloud, dissolving at a glance ?

I watch the tensions turn to subtle space
like contemplating clouds in endless sky
inside this vibrant Void, where is my face ?
one thing is sure: this body is not “I”

Abiding as pure consciousness, I know
that what I am is free from ebb and flow

I watch the breath-waves gently rise and fall
and  birth and death of breath appear in me
While constant shifts of ebb and flow enthral
unwavering remains the depth of sea

In depth of sea, no river I can find
just water merged with water – peace of mind

Substratum all-pervading, shore-less sea
all rivers merge in Thee, leave form and name
instead of ring or necklace, gold to see
impermanence renouncing, Truth to claim

pure emptiness, not tied to form and name
unlabelled and forever free from frame

Achievement, leaving nothing to achieve,
Pure Knowledge, leaving nothing to be known
Eternal Home, impossible to leave
Sheer Seeing, leaving nothing to be shown

the formless, timeless, undivided whole
containing nothing – yet embracing all

When seeking for the “I” who meditates
no entity, no seeker will be found
Eye knows the “I” as Void that contemplates
itself as silence listening to sound

While empty bubbles rise and turn to naught
the “I” remains as stillness, free from thought

Inner peace speaks from this page. I know many will read it and not get anything you have said here it has happened to ome often in life. But I do "get it", I know it and I spin in your web of thoughts here most willingly. Beautifully done and captivating.

    Zayra has spoken the Truth.

"I" was/am with you the whole time... how effortlessly your manifestation brings this busy mind back to the One. How easily the shells and shadows fall... when looking through Your Eyes.

    Om Namo, my Blessed Maa...
    How wondrous Your manifested Light!

  • It takes me a while to sit still long enough to fully hear that wee small voice but there have been times when the Lord of Hosts has lain me on my back, unable to move, so that I had no choice. You see, when I surrender, and give God the audience He deserves, revelations come to me with great speed and light years of understanding. I love the form you've used to write this work of beauty. It seems to be an inverted sonnet of sorts. Exceptional is the poetry scribed here, to say the least. The title works perfectly!

This is a beauteous work of words dear sister.

a beautiful composition that allows the reader to breath and journey in their own restlessness, free to contemplate the ebb and flow of thought.

    peaceful

That is what we find, if we stop and look. Your words describe the experience of meditation well, though when I sit I cannot always settle so deeply.

I like most "just water merged with water – peace of mind", and your form of quatrain-couplet which does not stray from beginning to end. Iambic pentameter is your friend. Lovely.

    Respected Maa

In English you have very poetically described what is described by Jnaneshwar in Jnaneshwari, a cmmentary on Geetaa in Marathi. This can be a guidance to your friend who is seeking info on mantra. The last two lines is the end stage.

    To read your words,
    to follow the wind
    you leave behind,
    is to follow maa
    reaching your
    sublime state of mind.

    A peaceful stillnes, indeed,

with love and hugs to you, dear maa,

This is such "Buddhist" way of thinking, and it is bringing me much peace at this time in my life. It is so well written, and just a balm to the soul. Thank you, my dear poet. Blessings. Lita

  • Beautifully penned and I can easily fall into this one. The "I" we seek is always there and yet for some reason lately I must fight to pass one image over and over again to get to that void. The image of three, one center pulling and pushing two together, then apart, then together; confusing the mind. Is it brotherly love? The two halves of self? or a joke by a mieser that wishes nothing more than to block success out of jealousy. I ponder this often as I long to stretch my winds. Wonderfully done piece my friend. Blessings, Gypsy

This was indeed a soulful sonnet. I was very impressed. Love the line Eye knows the "I" as Void that contemplates itself as silence listening to sound.

Now I see why so many praise your work! Excellent!

  • I often wonder why we choose the ghost
it is almost as if we cling to it even knowing what it is or should I say what it isn't.
you have taken the illusion of life to the dept of truth.
rise and fall we physically see everday in our lifes, because we seem to be drawn to the drama.
While empty bubbles rise and turn to naught,
the "I" remains as stillness, free from thought.
    place of divinity
    without twist and turn
    amazing maa
where I want to go whenI grow up
    God bless you my friend...

In the silence there is a welcome emptiness. Where there is emptiness there is peace. I think of emptiness in correlation with the principles of tai chi and how the absence of weight allows one to go with the flow without resistance.

    Beautiful sonnet Marion.

I love this! The title just goes with the thoughts, the flow, the words. The simple questions that go through our minds that are still important to ponder about. Wonderful write. Blessings.
