the old me would've said you've abandoned me,
but the new me has realized
i've finally been let go.
your weight no longer on my mind.
your hands no longer clasped around my shoulders,
making me think you were stabilizing me
[when really, you were trying your best to make me into another one of your statues]
but more importantly,
the barbed wire connection
that bound our hearts,
has been delicately removed,
and i stand here
with my heart a little wounded, but still in tact--
