Not many people noticed
That she was falling apart,
They didn't see she was beginning
To spiral to her death.
She would soon cease to exist,
This was not her cry for attention,
Merely a way to make things easier,
On the people she cared most about.
She almost always kept her promises,
But there was one she never managed to keep,
She promised she would stop,
She knew it was dangerous,
She just couldn't stop.
Every time she felt like giving up,
She had to fight a battle with herself,
Either break the promise to stop cutting,
Or break the promise to never completely give up.
She always felt compelled to keep going,
Keep living, because if she broke this promise,
They would find out, but she could hide the cuts,
hide the scars, she's just have to be selective when
choosing where to relieve all the stress.
She kept going like this for a long time,
Pretending she was strong, almost invincible.
Until one day she just couldn't take it anymore,
It was just to much for her or anyone
To take in at one time, everything kept
Building and building, She grabbed a pen and paper
Wrote her good-byes, then picked up the
Gun and ended it all.

often i write my poems in hypothetical form,
ie. saying 'she' instead of 'i'
