Winner come lately
Wiping off the mud
From so many falls in the dirt
I Am
A writer
reflecting back the world as I see it
In universal truths
I Am
A lover
Freed by the fires of love
That burn the pages of my past
I Am
Forgiveness
Freeing the chains of hate and anger
That had me trapped in this shell
I am Warrior
Spirit
Lover
I Am

I really like this! I can never write about myself, but you did very well! Original and probably true (:
Keep writing

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! My eyes....hahah.... I like this but I think you can do a little more to bring out some originality. I think if you use more metaphors to represent what you are instead of telling us what you are it will make this a bit more complex and add some layers of meaning to the complexity of your soul.

This is pretty and sweet. It reminds me of my friend Mike. You sound a lot like him. This is very good and honest. I like it. Good job and good luck! ~Des

Are You Now or Will You Have Ever Been Then?
The world as you see it
Is unicursal - universal
Comes not into It, at All.
I see then One
A Lover become
Delusionary airy fairy
May king making merry
Distributing very heavy
Links of what he thinks
Is forgiveness, for giveness,
His warrior spirit loveliness.
A pretty good poem I guess.
But I am left to guess, unless...

But Wouldst He Urn A Knighthood?
I just don't think one is ever freed from the past, especially if the truths propounded are universal, as an earlier stanza claims.

I respectfully disagree with you comment on I Am. Lessons learned from the past can make you stronger, and more sensitive to trials and mistakes others go through, also less quick to judge. Besides, no one needs someone in their life who can not judge them where they are, and not where they were. I feel that anyone who can overcome serious mistakes and live a good, giving life is definitely a warrior

Live & Let Leave, Without Being AWOL
Well, for me, fighting with my head lead only to headaches.
Until I became Enlightened (in the classic Buddhist sense, if not by the classic Buddhist path, to classic Buddhist ends), all my Intellectual Warrior atttempts at learning, which I would not be spurning, were more by way of training for that day when I began to see clearly what was really for Me, and what was for other men, or women.
My own sense of self-respect came easily to me. That you may have to pass on through more trial and tribulation than I do in that respect, to retain Innocence (which means literally "to be unhurt" - and do we not all heal?) with your Experience perhaps suggests a different sense of values, allocations of priorities, one's which make it harder to feel Innocent (eg. casting one's self-identity in light of what others think of you, which I could never do, thanks to experiences I had passed through in infancy, which I won't go into) and thus require you to fight more to love your spirit.
I do like the idea of being "a lover and a fighter", rather than either/or.
For my money, it is not so much the Judgement as the Execution that one were best to avoid being quick with.
That is enough to say for me for now.
Thank you for the invitation to discuss something: lately I have had too many people who can't seem to take any critique without losing their place in the -que, and creating an -ism like a schism instead.

grin perhaps knighthood
and I hope you are incorrect about sins of the past, karma carries us onward and hopefully upward -

The Word of Sin is Restriction
Dear Sir, or though be an Lady:
I don't know about sins - they say Sin was a Babylonian God of Urban Cultivation, and his Word was Restriction. And as for Karma, per Austin Osman Spare, the Karma of a Cat is to be chased by Dogs; the Karma of a Wheel is to Turn. But it certainly seems the Karma of Poetry is either as Books To Burn Midnight Oil By, Be Lit Up by the Sun, or Electrify Total I, Virtu'ly.
In an Infinite Universe, which way is up?

Wow. Full of so many images, and so vivid! I loved it. Short and very powerful. Andrew Houtman? Are you Dutch? Or South African? It's a very Afrikaans surname. (not insulting you, I am from South Africa, just curious) anyways, great write. Thanx for sharing.

God, this is well-done!! After reading your author's page first...and then coming in and reading this: It was a beautiful add-on to what that page had to say. I loved the "freed by the fires of love" line.....something about fire just moves me, so I am always taken by the mention of it. Excellent writing!
